Aperture Assistant - Glossary

Action Node A Node used to perform actions such as setting metadata and exporting files.
Album An Album in Aperture is the lowest level of organisation. It does not contain the actual master files, just references back to the originals in their Project.
Album Pick When viewing a Stack in an Album, you can over-ride the default Pick for that Stack, so that you have a different Pick specific to that Album. This type of Pick is not understood by Aperture Assistant.
Blue Folder A top-level folder in Aperture that can contain Projects, Albums and further Blue Folders.
Brown Folder A folder found inside an Aperture Project, it usually contains Albums, but cannot contain Versions directly.
Container Anything in an Aperture Library that contains things, such as a Project, Folder or Album.
Decision Node A Node used for doing different things to different images, depending on the metadata for each image.
Depth When using the Tree Structure option in a Source Node, this controls how deep to look inside the Project or Folder.
Fixed Text Fixed Text is text which does not change from image to image.
Inherited Text Inherited text is passed on to the node from earlier Text Nodes that used Get Text.
Link Links are the blue/green bars used to connect the in and out points of different Nodes.
Node One of the blocks that you make workflows out of.
Project An Aperture Project. The main organisational block in Aperture.
Report This is the window that appears after doing a Test Run or Run, showing the results of the run. In the report you can find information about the number of images, their names and IDs and what happened to each image. Any errors will be highlighted in red.
Run Running a Workflow in ‘active’ mode - so files will be exported, metadata changed etc.
Source Node A Node used for choosing images in Aperture.
Stack In Aperture, a Stack is a set of Versions that have been grouped together.
Stack Pick A Pick in Aperture is the main image for a Stack. In Aperture Assistant you can find out if a Version is a Pick using a Decision Node. Note that unstacked Versions always count as Picks.
Test Run Running a Workflow without actually exporting files or changing anything, for testing purposes.
Text Node A Node used for retrieving metadata from Aperture, and for text manipulation such as find and replace.
Token A token is a piece of placeholder text {surrounded by curly brackets} that will be replaced with another value based on that Version.
Tree Structure This term is from the Source Node. When chosen, Aperture Assistant will keep looking inside Folders or Projects for other containers. For example, if you pick a Project and a depth of 1, Aperture Assistant will look for Albums and Brown Folders in that Project, but not for Albums or Folders inside other Folders. The names of the containers will automatically be added to the export folder as subfolders.
Version An Aperture Version.
Workflow An Aperture Assistant workflow.
