Nodes

Nodes are the basic building blocks of Aperture Assistant. You build up a flowchart representing what you want to happen via Nodes connected together.

You start with a Source Node to get Versions IDs from Aperture, then carry on with Decision Nodes to do different things to different Versions, Text Nodes to retrieve metadata and Action Nodes to perform actions such as setting metadata, exporting Versions etc.

Each type of Node has several options, as detailed in these descriptions.

Action Node

Action Nodes perform the actual changes and actions in your workflow, for example exporting files, changing metadata, adding files to Keynote presentations etc.

Decision Node

Decision Nodes allow you to route Versions to different Nodes depending on the value of different metadata for that Version, for example passing all Versions with a rating of 3 or higher to a 100% TIFF export preset and all Versions with lower ratings to a 50% JPEG export preset.

Source Node

Source Nodes allow you to grab Versions from Aperture - use them to choose what Versions you want to work with.

Text Node

Text Nodes are used for retrieving metadata from Versions and for several types of text manipulation such as replacing text, trimming text lengths, capitalising words etc.
