Getting Started - Please Help!

I have Aperture 1.5, and I want to export EXIF data for multiple images to a spreadsheet - the Aperture "Export Metadata" function does some of this, but doesn't export the fields I want, like aperture and shutter speed (why on earth not? but anyway.....).

I've downloaded a trial of Aperture Assistant, because someone on an Aperture forum suggested it might be able to do this. It loads up ok but doesn't seem to locate my Aperture library (which is on an external hard disk) although Aperture is running and has no problem accessing it. The option to "swap library" doesn't find it, only an old trial library for Aperture 2. I tried doing a test run but it returned an error - message below

An error occured!

Test Run
Time taken: 23.762 seconds

SOURCE NODE 1, Entire Library, Tree: All Images Source Node: retrieved images from entire library ERROR - no images returned from Library!

Does this mean it doesn't recognise an Aperture 1.5 library?

Thanks in advance for your help

Richard

If you get a message about

If you get a message about Aperture Assistant not being able to find the Library, nothing is going to run...

Some questions:
Have you excluded the external drive from Spotlight searches, or is the external drive not Mac-formatted? That's the only reasons I can think of for the Library not being found by the 'swap library' menu item, although the drive should be Mac-formatted or your Library wouldn't work in Aperture either!

What version of OS X are you running? There were some issues with 10.4 that I never managed to track down.

I'll try and dig out a working copy of Aperture 1.5 to find out if some new bugs have been introduced, but even if there are I can't guarantee that they will be fixed, as 1.5 is effective dead in terms of the numbers of people still using it...

Thanks,

Ian Wood
